This is platter is turned from a spectacularly figured piece of curly silver maple (Acer saccharinum) Finished with several coats of polymerized tung oil and then buffed. 17.25" in diameter, 2.5" high.
This box is turned from a straight grain piece of walnut and has an exceptionally tight grained piece of curly maple inlaid into the top. The inlay was done using Chris Stotts window technique - which makes the inlay visible on the underside of the lid.
